Absolutely great, old school country pub. Great food and great choice of beers with friendly staff and lots of local doggos

Love this place. The Bell has Fabulous food and the staff is very friendly . There is a lovely walk through farms nearby. Dogs are allowed but have to be kept on their leads. My Dogs didn't care and enjoyed themselves.

Really lovely, historic and atmospheric pub. I just called in for a coffee and dessert - they were delicious, and the service excellent. Highly recommended.

My colleagues took me here for a business lunch. They joked this place was older than the US. They were probably right!
In any case, the house cider was quite good. The manu was simple, but the food was expertly prepared. I wish I had time to try the scotch/whisky flight.

People have been coming here for over 400 years. I can see why. Step back in time while enjoying home counties conversations. It's a locals local but if you like a bit of history with better than the average pub food then make the effort definitely worth it.

Have been here a few times in the past and always have a great experience. They used to have a great choice of menu. Food was always fresh and very tasty.
However, on la latest visit a few days ago it was a very limited menu, not much to choose from so we had to go somewhere else. I don't know what happened, but I hope they will go back to their previous menus.
The 3 stars I gave for food is for lack of options, not the food itself.

Best pub in the area..
The staff are welcoming and friendly. This 14th century pub has period features, well worth seeing. The cider selection is recommended, it has won awards. The bar snacks are a cut above.
They also have folk music once a month

2 years on from my first review, still one of our favourite local pubs. Lovely lunch today, Walnut, blue cheese and endive salad, spaghetti with cavolo nero pesto, cod with greens and mash.

Super tasty Bambi burger & slow cooked lamb served by cheerful, friendly staff. All wrapped up in a cosy pub with open fires & great beer.

Small but organised village pub with a good cellar serving cracking ales, ciders and lagers plus a limited menu of high end grub. Lovely timber frame building revealing its history all around you (e.g. the snug little separate dining area just off the entrance lobby). Two log fires, a beer garden, dog friendly and charming staff. Good walks nearby around Waltham St Lawrence. Highly recommended.
